Default **free** anti theft mod !!

My new 2010 FLHTP did not come with HD security. I was looking for a mod that would allow me to walk away with out locking the ignition with the key each time as I was spoiled by my previous traded in bike that had the HD smart security. I realized the start disable gear switch is located on the clutch lever. The clutch lever has extra casting that activates the switch when pulled. My thought is to remove the lever and grind off that piece. This way, I can leave the bike in gear and if someone jumps on to steal her there would be no start even if the clutch lever is pulled in. It is pertinent to leave in gear as in neutral the bike starts without clutch lever pulled.

Why not just buy the security system?

So, what happens when that someone puts your bike in neutral before starting.
The bike is going to start right up.

I thought anti-security was leaving it at the end of a dark street in the hood with the keys in it and a full tank of gas....

That'll come in real handy the first time you stall it in heavy traffic & need to find neutral before you get run over...........

instead of grinding off anything, why not just use a pre 07 clutch lever? don't you have one lieing around? if not, lots of folks do, you could pick up one cheap.

that way, after you forget and hit the start switch with your bike in gear, after you pick it up, you can change back.

or they just push the bike away, toss it in a trailer and rape your bike into pieces...

I myself like no security, to me the 5 second hassle of locking your ignition vs. being locked out of your bike by the security def outweighs having security. It has happened to me on both bikes I had security on, and it really sucks!

Couple of reasons. First, the factory smart security system is way too easy to defeat. Second, why spend $$ on a feature that can be had for free.
