Like to adjust them so the air flows towards me on hot days here in South Florida and when it rains I shut them keeps me a little dryer so open them up you will see a difference

I love mine and would never take them off, directs air on to u on hot days, and keep rain off of you by simply closing them. Why u want to remove them is beyond me, saying they catch bugs, what about the batwing or lowers, they catch bugs. Just my 2 cents.

Be Safe JIM

Leave them on and just open them up. You get a cooler breeze with them opened then you do by removing them. Also the extra speed of the airflow pulls more cool air across the motor.

Why not try 'adjusting' them?...
Be careful.....that clear screen thing in front of your face collects bugs also (Front fender not so much.....but remove it just in case).

no noise when shut just the sound of wind when open , u adjust the amount of air u get by how nuch u open them and actually scoop up even more air then without them.

Wow, three pages of replies! I think I'll try an experiment with these things. I'm going to take a ride with them in the closed position, as they've been so far. Then, I'll cover the same course with them opened, and then one more time with the wings removed. This should provide me with some good feedback as to whether to ditch the wings or not. I'll let you guys know the results.

Again, thanks for all the replies, at least the constructive ones. As to the "funny guys" pointing out that my fairing, windshield, lowers, fender, etc, also catch bugs, thanks for pointing out the obvious. Some of you suggested that I remove those parts as well to eliminate them as bug collectors. Well, I find those items to be functional, which was exactly my reason for starting this post, to determine if the wings were really funcitonal or just fluff.

Thanks,
Rick

Wind noise when open??? Really? I just back from a little 70+ mile ride with the wings open. I can't imagine being able to hear any wind noise over the motor/exhaust and standard wind noise. Not even with stock mufflers. Anybody else hear wind noise from the open wings?
