Smile Baker Transmission DD7

I had the DD7 installed on my 07 Ultra back in the Spring. I rode it 1200 miles it devoloped a problem with the shifting drum. I called Baker and they sent me a new drum very quick. Baker even paid the cost of installing the drum, which is not covered by their written warranty. I call that superb service and the best in customer care. The DD7 is a wonderful improvement on the 07, which had a horrible whine in 1st and 5th gears. Also 1st gear was to high, idle speed about 10 mph. I now have a lower 1st that allows me to untrack on hills with ease. The spacing of the gears is very good. 6th gear on the DD7 is between the 5th and 6th of the stock tranny. High gear (7th) is still 1 to 1. Tranny is smooth, shifts slick, no clunk, easy to find nuetral.

I still think that the 1st and high gear is too tall, so I installed the 30 Tooth primary gear. I'm good now

There is no right or wrong way to do it.
I was looking at doing what you did. How much was the install and DD7?
No doubt smoother shifts.

Baker was running a special on the DD7 for less than $2500. It cost me $700 to have it installed. I would have wrenched it myself but the special tools were about $800. Your right that the low is a bit higher than I would prefer but I do not want to give up anything on the top end.

Rocknrod, so what's your mileage like with the 30 tooth gear? Size engine?

Not knowing mileage. I fill up when needed. It's less of a hassle to my calmness to worry about those things.
08 = Same as eveybody elses. Unless someone has an 08 copper and black 105th anniversary with a 125ci engine I dont know about (from the factory)
