Default 2010 FLHR question

Not sure how to describe this but here goes, where the cruise control is located on the Classic I have a little piece that spins. I had never messed with it, caught my grandson turning it, the end result when I turned the accelorator it would stay where I turned it and not go back when released. I turned it so that it does return but was wondering if anyone knows if this needs to be turned out a certain amount of turns or if it is good as long as the accelorator returns when you let go....

It's your throttle lock.

Just loosen it enough so your throttle turns easily.

I have used it from time to time on long rides where the road is flat. Even when tightened enough to hold the trottle you should still be able to turn in down in case of emergency.

There may be other uses, but that's mine.

Thanks, I did think to myself that this would be a quick make shift cruise control but I just wanted to make sure there was not something I needed to do to it.
