Black Touring Exhaust

Black Touring Exhaust
I've been considering blacking out my exhaust system as part of a winter changeover and have some questions for anyone who has done this before. There is a ceramic coating that can be used to coat my stock system, but after pricing this with a Jet Hot franchise, the cost of the mufflers and heat shields is as much as a complete black system. I'm looking at scuffing up the chrome slip on mufflers and heat shields and just painting them with a high temperature paint like VHT.
Not against heat wrapping the pipes along with painting the heat shields and mufflers, just to add some black behind the areas the heat shields don't cover. This won't be done for a couple of months, so I have plenty of time to look at a lot of options.
Bub has a set of black true dual header and heat shields, which would only leave me painting the mufflers. I have no personal experience with Bub pipes or going true duals on my Road King. Any recommendations, pictures, whatever would be appreciated.

Here is a couple of pics of my factory head pipes ceramic coated locally. I have not done the mufflers yet. The ceramic coat cost me about 75.00 and is very durable. Some say you can powder coat them but mine caught on fires and almost caused some serious problems. The ceramic coat seems to be very durable.
