Just curious if this is a new requirement for the '09 and up FL models... Plugged my VIN into the H-D site and this is what it shows me for my mileage... Fork oil? I thought this was like a 50K item? Anybody?

It is 50,000 mile service. It falls under 1&2 in notes.

I would not wait 50,000 miles. I change mine during the winter storage.

It's an easy DIY job. Once you see the old, you will be glad you did it at 15K.

Change it. Trust me, it will be dirty. I used ICLICK's method. See this link for further.

I also went ahead and used iclick's method and I couldn't believe how dark and dirty the oil was. Looked like someone has ground up graphite and put it in the oil. How can the oil get so dirty when it (should) be protected from the elements? Is there some strange fork oil formula The MOCO uses at the factory when they ship new bikes that I don't know about? I replaced the oil with Screamin' Eagle racing oil 20w. It says "for off-road use only" but we'll see. I plan to ride it a bit tonight for the first time since the oil change.

I wouldn't let it go any longer than 20k, but that's just me.
