Stereo for a 2005 Electra Glide
I am wanting to install an aftermarket stereo and speakers on my 2005 Electra Glide but am running into trouble finding a waterproof stereo cover to fit the hole for the stereo. I've been told by the local Harley Davidson dealers that Harley does not sell anything like that because their stock stereos and waterproof. Has anyone had this same problem and if so has anyone found anything that will work or gotten creative and made something.
Thanks,
Kris

Actually it's www.biketronics.com;)
There is no such thing as waterproof. They do sell a cover(20 bucks)that'll keep it dry while you wash it though.I bought it,along with stereo, and Hogtunes speakers, the whole kit that lets you use your factory hand controls, etc, for about $530.00 bucks.Delivered in under three working days.Took about 2-2.5 hours to install, including a pizza break.
I'm happy with it.

What MS and BH said! You can also go to a boating store, they make covers for radios there. Or, you could get a marine grade stereo, they sell a Sony one (or used to) on the biketronics site!
I personally have the Sony non-marine equivalent of that stereo on the site. I didn't go with the cover, and I haven't had any problems. Granted, it doesn't rain a whole lot in Arizona, but when it does it's a downpour! I've left my bike in the rain and rode through storms as well (not by choice, mind you!) and haven't had one skip, short, electrical fire, or anything of the sort. I wash my bike frequently, and while I don't spray the inner fairing down, it still gets wet, including the stereo, especially when spraying down the tank, and hasn't bothered it yet.

If you go to a boating store, you WILL git raped on the price. Most boat owners,at least the guys wth the big stereos, use aftermarket car stereos.
Stick with the biketronics and you'll be fine.

devious 1 ,
I bought the biketronics retro radio kit and the rain cover from Biketronics, a Sony CDX50M, marine radio off of eBay, and Hogtunes speakers and I'm very happy with the set-up. flhtpi04, I believe I paid $39.00 for the rain cover so I don't think you were taken on your cover. Mike and Donna at Biketronics are good people and don't think they would take advantage of anyone.
I would also like to thank Pez for sending a replacement for a speaker that I was getting buzzing from when playing a CD with any heavy bass, no questions asked. Now that's customer service.
