Default 77182-02 Crusie control installation

I am installing a cruise control on my 2003 FLHT and I am hoping someone has done this before. Install is going well but I have a question. When I removed the out control I took out the adjuster shoe (which the instructions said to keep) and now that I am assembleming the new control it tells me to put the shoe back in (no problem). However, the new unit does not have an adjuster screw and the old adjuster screw will not fit. Does anyone know if the new unit is suppose to come with an adjuster screw? I am concerned I got the wrong control in the box.

Thanks

If you are referring to the throttle position adjuster screw (I call it poor man's cruise control), the new housing for the right side controls is not tapped for the screw. Since you will now have cruise, there is no need for it. Not sure why instructions say to replace the shoe inside the housing. I'll go look at the instructions for mine and see if I can figure out why they would want you to put it back inside the housing. Been a couple years since I installed mine...

Default Thank you

Thanks for your reply and for looking at your instructions - I thought that might be the case but really didn't want to complete the install and then find out I needed to tear it appart again because of the wrong part. I get to take things back apart enough because of user errors if you know what I mean.

That is half the fun of wrenching on your own stuff.

I did look at my sheet, and there is no mention of keeping the friction shoe or re-installing it. Granted, mine is an '06, but I can't imagine it's much different on yours. Just leave it out. Besides, 4thgear makes a great point...it's how we learn, DIY + HDForums = SATISFACTION!!!
