Default My 09 Road King is Overheating

It has happened twice in less than 3 weeks. It happened yesterday, temps outside were around 70 degrees. I'm taking it in to the dealer when I find time, cuz I'm sure they will need to keep it a few days. It is still under warranty so I'm not too worried. Only changes I have made are Vance/Hines Oval Slip-ons, air cleaner and Power Commander......Any reason for the overheating? I'm thinking something to do with oil circulation, because I have been complaining about the constant ticking, which is getting louder.

Default overheating

Oil circulation seems like a pretty remote possibility to me. The map in your PC is the first place to try.

What kind of riding were you doing? seventy degrees at highway speeds is one thing, but stuck in traffic, it wouldn't be unusual for it to get hot.

How do you know it was overheating? Did it go into parade mode?

When you say it has happened twice. What has happened exactly to make you think bike is overheating?

Sounds like you're running a little lean to me. It should not overheat in 70 * weather ,no matter how slow you were going. Did the dealer do the install on the PC.?

Mine has gone into "Parade mode" in cooler weather than 70 deg. That's sitting in stop and go traffic for 15 mins.

I have a Stage 1 and Syn oil too. Things get hot sitting still.

A Dyno might help. Sounds like it is still running way lean. Maybe the AFR is not right. That is my assumption.

You could also look into an oil cooler, although people have mixed feelings on their real value. I have an oil cooler on both of my bikes, but others I ride with don't have one and don't have issues either. Still check the AFR first.
