Default T-bags windshield bags and tweeter pod

Maybe this would be obvious to most but apparently it wasn't to me, so on the outside chance I'm not the only non-genius on the forums.....

I recently purchased the 8.5 klock werks, partially because of them stating it would work with windshield bags. I THOUGHT by looking at them that the T-bags windshield bags would work with the speaker pod, following the contour of the pod. Well, it doesn't the way the bags are attached to the backer-board that tucks into the fairing. What I tried was cutting the threads on the outer edges of the two outside bags. This does allow them to lift up and follow the contour pretty decent. On the bad side however, it then causes the bags to extend past the edge of the klock werks (or standard) windshield.

While I was installing the windshield I didn't realize that the inside was not protected with plastic film (the outside was). The two outside brass fittings where the windshield attach were sticking out slightly. By not paying attention to both of these things I scratched both sides of the shield pretty deep when it went into the fairing further than intended initially. Trying to repair the scratches I actually made them worse. With the bags on you can't see the scratches at all but I'm pretty picky and not real happy with the bags sticking out around the shield.

I've ordered a second shield (what the heck, it's only money) from another place that I had heard of, Clarks Custom Windshields (customflhtwindshields.net). This windshield extends past the 'normal' spot. I had a friend sometime back recommend the shield so I spent some time tracking the name down on the forums. This shield may give me a couple of advantages. I found at 5'7 the 8.5 windshield wasn't bad but could have actually been a little lower for my liking (looking over the shield). I ordered the Clarks shield at 6.5 (they will custom cut it to any size inbetween what's on the website. In addition, by the shield sticking out further I believe it will cover the bags. I know this windshields not for everybody and I will have to see it installed and ride with it to see if it's for me or not.

Didn't mean to ramble on but just trying to give people with the speaker pod an idea of what to expect with the T-bags. Here's a pic:

I've got a Clarks 8" on mine. The extra width will hide your bags, plus you get less wind over the faring speakers, making the sound louder and clearer.

I am using the Windvest recurve 8.5" windshield with a 3 bag set-up on my wind shield quite nicely. Just another option.

I ordered the flattop (or whatever they call it) style on mine but I like the half moon on yours. Love that bike also, I'm jealous.

Yea, it's interesting seeing everybodys opinions on different windshields, just like seats. Haven't really heard much about Clarks but as I'm sure you found out, they're Mom and Pop all the way and friendly as can be.

I had the same problem with the T bags not fitting with the Leather Dash pad.
I just put a painted fairing on today along with the bags. I didn't put the dash back on since it didn't fit plus I like the painted look better.
I listed the dash on ebay.

Received the 'Clarks' windshield a few days ago and put it on tonite, along with the deflectors on the edge of the batwing.

It certainly took care of the issue with the bags extending past the edge of the klock werks windshield. It arrives flat and is obviously cut from a large sheet of the material, covered on both sides to protect from scratching (I wish klock werks had the same). The price is exceptional.

It is a different look than anything else I've seen but I like it. It's not for everybody I'm sure. Not great pictures, taken on my cellphone after dark in garage

Andy, I have got the Clark's half moon on mine as well and have been considering the Tbag windshield bag. Do you like the fit with the windshield & TBag? Where is the best place to get the TBag? Thanks in Advance! Doug

thanks for updating your thread with your decision and the pics. Of installation. Running the t-bag windsheild bag with tweeter pod, behind a 4" windsheild now. I didn't have a problem with bag showing beyond the windsheild. That must have been a klockwerks specific thing. I liked the looks of your installation so much i ordered a 5" flat top from clarks myself. Really like the look, and having run a 6" before the 4" i have now, was glad to find a 5". Thanks again.

On another note, what is that you have mounted on the left side of your inner farring? Is it for gps, i-pod, phone???
