I understand when a dealer installs a security system they read the bar code off the key fob to marry the fob to the bike. What if you don't have the bar code. Can they manually enter the code numbers listed inside the back cover of the key fob?

 

I lost my fob when it went flying out of my pocket when I hurriedly tried to extract my Fast Pass (aka EZ Pass) transponder from my pocket while I was going at speed through the Mass Pike tolls.

I went to the local HD dealer to purchase a new fob and they had to hook up their shop computer to the ECM to download the code to marry the new fob to the bike. I would imagine the reverse would be true as well.

Even though I had not purchased the bike through them, they had the fob in stock and did the download for free (took some fumbling on their part but were successful in the end).

So my guess is you're going to have to see their Service Department.
