Default 2007 Street glide 103 S&S PCV Klock werks LED screamin eagle

Very satisfied on my recent purchase - 2007 Street Glide. Powerful, smooth ride, and comfy are the key features. The SG has a new 103cuin engine and transmission replaced by HD dealership as a warranty claim. This made me pulled the trigger in purchasing the bike! I also wanted to share my experience in modding this bike to my taste. Most of the parts are used, ebay specials, forum sales, and/or custom-built. This forum was a big help with all of the rich information from Harley enthusiasts. I am also grateful for the vendors with their support and discounted prices. I will mention them as we go.

Below are the before-and-after pictures. Time for modding!

1. 21" Front wheel - DNA fat spokes

IMHO, big wheel bikes are spooling down. However 21" front wheel still matches the larger body of touring bikes. When funding permits, the rear wheel also needs replacement. The front geometry needs to be corrected by lowering 1 to 2in. I will be using progressive mono tubes later on this build.

2. Exhaust - S&S Power-Tune dual headers and Power-Tour mufflers

I chose S&S due to their design similar to the newer style header that tucks-in underneath the chassis. I am also a fan of the hidden crossover which supports exhaust pulses and scavenging effects. To maximize potential of S&S products, I also opted for the Power-Tour mufflers. Interestingly, it has that lollipop design baffle that compensates for the reversion flow plus the deep tone.

3. Intake - S&S Stealth Air Cleaner with Rushmore OEM 103 air cover

Got a good deal at ebay with this gloss black air cover! The functional front air ram of the Rushmore intake cover is great for better direct air. No issues mating with the S&S air cleaner!

4. Air and Fuel Management - Power Commander V

No one beats Fuelmoto with their customer support and warranty service. It was important to have the right air and fuel control especially the ECU and throttle body were not replaced when the dealer swapped the engine from 96 to 103. Fuelmoto included the compatible map for the new engine and all of the S&S exhaust and intake systems. In the future, I will be using the auto-tune and dual map features.

5. Comfort - Danny Gray low profile seat

Lean and clean profile that accentuates the countours and style lines of the SG. This seat helps planting both feet on the ground. The seating profile pushes you back and down, perfect for cruising with or without your significant other.

6. LED - Custom dynamics license plate and integrated running/brake lights

Later on this build, i will be modifying a 09-up rear CVO fascia that will have both turn signals and brake lights. For the time being, I simplified the rear fender by integrating the running lights into the brake lights. In addition, custom dynamics also offered this sleek LED curve license plate holder which blends to the shape of the rear fender.

7. Brakes - Brembo conversion

I got these used Brembo calipers in this forum with all of the parts necessary for the installation. In order to gain the benefits of this conversion, the master cylinder, bigger discs, and braided lines needed replacement. At the beginning, I used the old 11/16 master cylinder but the lever pull was weak and stiff. The smaller master cylinder did not have enough juice to push the bigger dual disc set-up. For more improvement, the 11.5" rotors were also replaced by 11.8" stainless discs in order for the Brembo calipers have larger surface area for braking. Finally got rid of the annoying squealing noise by using Lyndall Z-plus brake pads.

8. Suspension - Progressive monotube (front) and lowering bracket (rear)

Lowered the front suspension by 1.5" with one small spring and one clip of the Progressive monotubes. This mod corrected the brake dive and mushy response. It has that sportier feel but not too harsh of the ride. The rear suspension was also lowered by using an ebay lowering bracket which gives 1" lower than stock. Eventually the rear suspension will be upgraded with a better set-up.

9. Air drag - Klock Werks Flare windshield and Kuryakyn wind deflector

I am impressed with the wind noise and air deflection of this windshield. According to Klock Werks, the innovative patented design features "hips" on the outer edges that re-route wind away from the rider while creating additional downforce on the front-end of the motorcycle. This results in a significant improvement in wind deflection and front-end stability at highway speeds over using a standard type windshield. The "flip" at the top of the windshield is designed to reduce buffeting by kicking the wind up and allowing it to flow back as "clean", less turbulent air for the rider.

The Kuryakyn triple tree wind deflector minimizes the wind over the tank and directs air downward to the engine. Helps controlling the air flow and cools the engine.
