Say no to Headlight Trim Ring Crack

Custom Chrome makes the visor ring like the Harley Davidson one, except only difference is Custom Chrome headlight ring is one piece and snaps on and then install screw. Custom Chrome headlight visor you can get in chrome, denim black, and gloss black. You can find on E bay on sampowersports1 (there about $33.00 no matter what color) also AL's Cycle shop on E bay or web site sells them as well.

I bought one of those and it hits the fairing at the top.

How many times do I have to post this?
The fix is super easy.
First, toss the HD instructions in the **** can.
Second, remove old trim ring and toss it also in the **** can...just do it.
Third, bend headlight mounting bucket flange outward in several places with pliers or visegrips so new trim ring has a place to grip.
Forth and final, install new visor ring over headlight bucket in place of original ring and tighten screw.
no gap, no rattle, no problem.
Takes all of ten minutes.

I know this is an old thread but maybe someone will find this helpful.
I think I tried all methods mentioned in this thread before finding the one that worked best.
First I tried installing it per HD instructions. Result was a 1/8" gap at the bottom that would not close. Took that damn thing off and put it back on several times. Same thing.
Next I went to the hardware store and bought a stainless hex head bolt. This allowed me to close the gap at the bottom completely but with it installed over the OEM ring it created gaps on each side where the ring meets the bucket. Looked terrible.
Finally, I tried oinker02's method. I removed the stock ring, bent the lip on the edge of the bucket outward in several places (especially on the sides), then I put some 1/8" thick weather stripping tape around the inside of the visor ring. I had a friend hold the ring securely in place while I tightened it down. Perfection! No gap at the bottom, no big gaps on the sides, and firmly mounted. This is the best method to use IMHO.
