Default Removing the Radio and Gauge Face Trim

I've got the Radio and Gauge Face Trim (74612-06) on my '09 Ultra Classic and I don't particularly like the chrome bezel around the radio and the 2 bottom gauges. Has anyone ever removed one of these without damaging the inner fairing. I'm also not sure what hold it on. Maybe double back tape?

Yep, it should be double faced tape....It should pry off and then use something like WD-40 to soften the tape and residue. Get it soft enough and use your fingernails to scrape it off. Might take a while but at least you will not scratch the fairing using a sharp instrument. Some rubbing alcohol when your done to remove the WD-40 and then some "Armour All" type of product on the whole inner fairing.

You should try to get some wd-40 on there first to soften the double side tape, if you don't you will flex the metal and the chrome will flake. Don't ask me how I know. But if you are just going to throw away the chrome anyway don't worry.

I for one never could understand why anyone would put that fugly accessory on their inner fairing. I guess to each his own. I'm sure with patience you'll get it all off. Good luck.

Got it done. It came off fairly easily with a heat gun. There was no double-back tape residue to clean off.
