In my limited experience, have heard ticking from the top end to a degree on all of my previous bikes. Seemed to be louder with fairing or windshield mounted bikes. Probably normal unless it's significantly greater than what I described. Could be pushrod or lifter/rocker related. Maybe one our local wrenches can guide you better than I .

It is normal for a Harley.

Welcome to the world of real mechanical-sounding motorcycles!

Went thru the same thing. So I take the bike a local dealer. The service writer tells me it is "normal" and said he has heard some that are worse.
So I take the bike to another dealer. The service writer and tech hear what I hear.
They ended up replacing the lifters and a couple push rods, covered under the ex. warranty

I have gone from a tick to a squeak, I think that it is one of the rubber mounts getting a bit stiff. I am going to have the stealer take a look at it during the 10 k check up.

If you have had adjustable pushrods installed, run, don't walk, to the nearest workbench and check their adjustment. One of mine came loose last year and the ticking sound grew progressively louder over a few days. It did it gradually so that I had a hard time telling something was wrong until the last day, and by then I wasn't able to get back to my garage in time. They don't run well on one cylinder!!!

Same here, got a little louder after 103 build with adjustable pushrods. It's a beautifull sound hearing that HD V-twin motor work.

It can also be the fuel injectors. I can hear them when I am riding.
