What causes it and what damage is it causing?

Bad Air/Fuel Ratio and wrong fuel (low octane).

Basically your cylinder head gets sort of burn marks and small holes on it.

Caused by SONAR. The animal rights groups say it damages whales and dolphins.

pinging,pre detonation is firing before it is supposed to, cheap gas, timing off, carbon build up are causes

I get premium from the majors only so its not the cheap stuff. Really interested in teh damage it causes, I will try octane boodters in teh mean time to see if any impact.
