Since mine bike is not quite a year old. I'm wondering if its covered under Warrante?

And has anyone had issues with a battery with or with a Voltage Regulator issue?

My Bike is less than one year old also. My dealer tells me it is covered, But trouble getting them from the factory. He is hearing that they may be upgrading them.

I've re-charged the battery. Not any problems today.

Keeping fingers crossed that in my case it was just caused by the battery being drained. And the charging circuit could not keep up with the voltage drain from the heat, causing my fan to kick on and all the lighting on mine! While trying to top off a partially discharged battery!

I can see that in the future I will have to up-grade to a higher wattage stator coil and regulator.

One of the best things to do is to install a Voltmeter on the bike. That can tell you goo-gobs of information concerning the status of your battery and charging system.

Nominal would be 14 volts, or slightly higher.

It won't cause any problems except when it is not charging you are running on the battery and when, not if, the regulator dies completly and you run the battery down you will be stuck. I certainly would not go far from home on it until you get the new regulator.

Your Right on what happens. The volt meter drops to 12. The engine and battery light comes on. This happens when I am stopped at a light . The volt meter jumps back up to 14 after 3 or 4 minutes of moving. My dealer says not to ride it like this. He is having trouble getting one from the factory. It has been two weeks and I am about to go get the bike and ride it till one comes in. Would this cause any other problems along as the volts come up after cooling off? Frustrated[sm=headbang.gif]

Can any of you with the "bad batch of regulators" provide a part number? I'm going througha pita charging issue with my HD store's Service Manager--a part number would be a really big help to compare to the one they just put on my bike. TIA for your help.

2 each 08 Ultra's are stranded in the local dealership right now! Voltage regulator problems...... Probably made in some 3rd world country like alot of the electric switches and parts of today's Harley's... So if Harley is upgrading... what about us 08 owners?? perhaps a recall should be considered??
