Default Avon Venom 150/80B16 77V

I have a 2007 Ultra Classic, it's time to replace tires and I'm wanting to increase the rear tire width. Has anyone used the Avon 150/80B16 77V which will work on a 3.00 wide stock rear rim and is 6.20" wide?
If so, is there anything special you have to do to get it to fit?
This is not the 74H which is 5.90" wide.

Hog Yild. Any info on your tire question? I am thinking of putting the same tire on the rear of my 07 road glide. Also I wonder how many miles it will last, compared to the factory dunlap.......

i have this tire on my 06 flht standard with hd profile spokes. no mods needed so fsar with approx. 2500 miles and numerous burnouts i love these tires! the rain groove in the front is awesome an these some sticky rubbers! the belt gard is plastic and just barely touches sidewall during expansion. doesnt bother me but you can trim it a smidge if you want

I had Avon 150's on my Road Glide with stock rim. I only got 8,000 miles out of the tire though. I have switched to Metzler ME 880 in 160 and have almost 10,000 on it. Both tires out performed the stock Dunlops.

I haven't had to change the tire yet. I think I can make it till winter. But I do plan on going with the wider Avon Venom 150/80B16 77V. From my understanding from others on this website that it will fit, worse case I may have to modify the belt guard by slotting the mounting holes and moving it over some.

Do you know the load rating for that tire? Some wider tires are rated less than the stockers. The MU 85 is rated at over 900lbs. Don't suffer a blowout cause of an underrated tire.

Already checked that out, but will post.

The load rating are the same as the stock rear tire.

77V = 908 lbs and 149 mph

77H = 908 lbs and 130 mph

But thanks for the concern, we all need to be safe.

loved my Avons when i used them. best in the rain i ever saw but mileage sucks. seems like any tire will outperform Dunlops. Running Michelins now and am very happy.
