Stripped torx head on derby cover
I have a new bike. One of the torx screws that attaches my derby cover to the primary has a stripped out head. I did it when trying to loosen it. The other 4 were tight but I was able to loosen them without incident. This one wouldn't back out without my torx driver stripping the head. I remember reading that some had used an allen wrench or screwdriver or somehow made adaptations to back it out. Before I obliterate the head altogether I was hopng you here could give some advice. I guess I could return to the dealer for help (I figure they have seen this many times before) but I would like to give it a try myself first.
Thanks in advance.
Thanks in advance.

Wait - really? Thought you were supposed to use Loctite?
I think people are stripping these bolts because they are using standard Torx sockets, not Torx Plus (from another thread)

boom, the issue happens a lot of the time when people assume that it's a t-25 instead of the t-27 which it actually is. the t-25 can easily strip out the head of a t-27 headed screw. surely they're using an air driver putting the bikes together at the factory, and probably not too interested in the correct torque. if you can drill off the head, and surely you can, as the metal in the screws isn't very hard, as you found out when the head stripped out, after drilling the head off carefully so you don't screw up your derby cover, if it's not finger tight, use some small vice grips to grab the threaded portion sticking out and unscrew it. and when you reinstall the new bolt and the four others, use anti seize and torque to specs. all will be just fine.
