premium tour-pak luggage rack install
#11
Thanks folks. HD Forum is a great place to get help. It's no fun to drill holes in a perfectly good trunk lid. :-) I gotta have the extra space when the wife goes on these trips, especially when it's cold (leathers) in the morning and shed them up in the day, then leathers again in the evening. With all we (read- she) takes..... more storage is a must. I'm not crazy about a trailer..... but..... :-)

Easiest install in the world... do as others say. I just did it this evening, and it was a breeze. The tough part is making that first drill hole. I started out with a small bit, moved to a bit that was in-between my starter hole and the 9/32nds required, and finished with a 1/4" bit. I did all four holes at the same time (some suggest just doing one at a time, but if you measured and drew around the feet of the rack, it won't be a problem). Looks great, glad I put it on!

Measure, measure, place it in place, measure again, then drill that dude. It is easy, you just gotta be sure it's where you want it.... then go for it. Drill one hole first, bolt it loosely down, the mark all the other legs and pull it off and drill, baby drill. :-)
I used the logo strip across the top of the trunk and used it as a straight edge to eyeball the rack to being straight with it. Also a big help to put on a bike stand, jack so everything is level.
