Default Installing a traditional RK handlebar cover on RK Custom? (no duckbill)

I have a Road King Custom and I'm not sure I like the "duckbill" thing on the front anymore. I know how to remove the handlebar cover, which is a pretty easy feat.

Now I'm wondering if I can replace the "duckbill" handelbar cover with the regular 'ole Road King handlebar cover?

Is it as easy as I think? Does it fit perfectly?

Also, do I need to get the little "arrow" looking seam cover thing too or will the one I already have fit the regular 'ole Road King handlebar cover?

Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

Chris

You know I think you can screw off the fin, I know for sure that it's screwed on but I never took it off, and yes it's a simple swap with the regular RK but I think you have to buy the chrome strip as well (the arrow looking seem) double check though I may be wrong, why take it off I love mine, it makes up a beefy front end for the bike.

Thanks guys. I assumed it was a direct swap, but you know how these things go...

I hated the "duckbill" at first, but never did anything about it. Then I started liking it. Now I'm back to not liking it. ha ha... Guess I should save this old one if I swap it out, just in case I keep going back and forth in the future.

Seems the duck bill blends well with the speedo which seems to stick up higher than many other models. Without the duckbill, your speedo will be way up there by itself. May look a little odd from certain angles.

Just swapped by duckbill out and added the SE style nacelle mounted tach. The RK Custom doesn't come with a tach and it bothered me to no end. Easy swap on the duckbill, not so easy on the tach.

Interesting observation. I never thought about that. I'll have to really look it over and think about it before making the change. Thanks!

Taking the Duck Bill off, as you call it is like taking the hood ornament off your Mercedes. It's just not right.

I'll be sure not to mention how I've considered taking off the tank badges too.
