Great idea; the tech changing the oil probably doesn't have the same experience as the one doing the rebuilding. Why do we pay for the experience of a rebuild to the guy doing the oil change.

My dealer currently charges $95 for an oil change. I have a non-diesel passenger car that is $135 for an oil change at the dealer.

My dealer says "about $80". I say no thanks, the money I save doing it myself buys a lot of beer.

It's really too easy to not do it yourself. Did not take me long after purchasing my bike to realize how much the dealers are ripping you off. I just do everything I can myself now. I've even considered about going in halfs with a buddy to purchase a tire changer and balancer and doing that myself also. Sure can get good deals on tires through the internet.

Last time I was in the service dept their new fancy electronic board had a Syn3 and filter change on a big twin at about $55. I don't know if that was a spring special or just their normal rate. I bought a case of Syn3 from Lakeshore H-D when they had a free shipping plus 20% off deal, so at $8 a quart and a filter, it still costs me about $35 for an oil change.

The only and last oil change I had done at a dealer was $145.00 and they DID NOT change the filter cuz they couldnt figure out what it was (Factory HD shorty filter) due to my oil cooler. The only reason the service was done at a dealer was I was on the road and my starter jack shaft broke. They did the oil and the primary.

My last oil change I bought 6 quarts of Syn3 because I knew it would work in all 3 holes, and I was already at the dealer picking up parts for my fork rebuild and all new seals since I had all the unbolt motor/trans covers off for powder coat. My next *self* service, I will be going back to Mobile 1 in the motor, and amsoil or royal purple in the trans and primary using Fram filters with the rubber cap to aid in removal.

Default 24.95 total

I was just going to start to change myself and actually bought Mobil One for it. Lacking tools and a jack but need to start doing it myself for the bucks.

The dealer ran a special 24.95 for oil and 64.95 all three holes, could not pass that up and went with all 3 holes. Could not believe I got in an HD dealer in under 2 hours with this service for 64.95 total. Of course all HD oil and lube used but worth it to me. Itt was 5 dollars extra if you wanted there synthetic.

I will put the M1 in later.

That's cheap compared to Vegas; those services are close to 400 here!
