Default Throttle by Wire & New Handlebars

Will the Throttle by wire complicate changing handlebars on a new Road King ? I want to put pull back drag bars on my new King like I had on my 2000 King. Wondering if I will need handlebars designed for the new throttle by wire setup. Has anyone been down this road ? Thanks

Throttle by wire bars have a notch in the end for the throttle unit. Most manufacturers make bars to fit the throttle by wire units now. I put heritage style bars on my 2009 RK and found enough slack inside the headlight nacelle to make the wires work without an extension. Not sure on the drag bars.

From what I found reading this forum (and others) there are plenty of bars that will work but after all that I read on the subject I decided it wasn't worth doing. Too time consuming and complicated. It appears that it's a real PITA

Yes it is. With TBW, you unplug the sensor & pull it out of the old bars. Then you put the sensor in the new bars and plug it in. Much easier than connecting the cables at the throttle body and the grip.
