Wiring CB Mic
I attempted to wire up a Cb microphone for my 2004 ultra classic... I found a few links on line showing the pin out for the 7 pin plug is
6 is the shield/ground (one o'clock position)
1 is the microphone input (three o'clock position)
4 is the microphone ground (five o'clock position)
2 is the speaker ground (six o'clock position)
5 is the left speaker positive (seven o'clock position)
3 is the right speaker positive (nine o'clock position)
7 is the handheld PTT (eleven o'clock position)
I also found the wiring for harley on an Astatic manual
WH-1
SH-4
BL-6
REd-7
when you look at the two wiring setups it looks like it would work but the mic keys up the cb but there is no audio comming through the mic. I used an astatic 636 cb mic I dont understand why it is not working any ideas would be greatly appreciated. I used a buddys harley headset and it worked no problem so its not the radio.

Thanks bikes... I didnt want to spend the money they want for one right now... but have come across a couple instances where I wanted to talk to someone on the cb... figured I would give it a shot only 1.25 for 7 pin din plug at local electronic store and had mic so figured would hurt to try

I think the wiring diagram has the mic input and ground backwards, the pic shows how I wire my adapters. As you can see the #1 wire goes to the ground/common on the stereo jack and the #4 can go to either of the other contacts. This works for computer style headsets but I have not tried to wire a handheld mic.

I have built a few headset setups for the Harley as well as others. Harley mics have a small preamp in them and voltage is passed thru the mic wiring. You could try to reverse the polarity of the mic (swap + and -) and if that doesnt work, it is very possible that your Astatic mic is the wrong type of mic. The mics that dont have the preamp in them will work on the metric bikes.

I like mine, just have to use a piece of tape to keep it in my ear. At high speed, need to hold your hand over it to keep out wind noise. Stereo sound is very good.
