Default 2010 Ultra Limited Suspension

My friend rides a 2010 Ultra Limited. He complains that the ride is so rough that just running over the ordinary cracks in the highway at highway speeds is so severe that it jars his body intolerably, takes it out of cruise and that after a couple of hours he cannot wait to get off the bike. He is an experienced rider having ridden Harleys more than 40 years and trades Ultras every two years. I read this forum all of the time and have never heard this complaint by other riders. Have any other Ultra Limited riders experienced this problem and if so, is there a fix?

Check tyre and suspension pressures, it tracks better than the 07 Ultra I replaced

No problems here unless I forget to lower the pressure in the shocks after my wife has been with me, at 50lbs of pressure with the wife on its fine, but a little harsh with 50lbs with just me, I take it down to about 15lbs when solo and its perfect.

Thank you very much. I assumed, probably incorrectly, that he had already checked his tire pressure and the shock pressure. I am going to go over there now and check them myself. Thanks again.

Sounds like way to much air in the rear shocks. I know it can't possibly be the front suspension. If anything, the front is a bit to soft.

Either that, or there is ZERO air in the shocks. I know this has been discussed before, but my Limited would tend to bottom out harshly on even a modest hole in the road without air. I'd suggest he check and adjust to what the owners manual recommends. Coming off a Softy, I never had to deal with these air shocks - and now find out that the air level needs to be monitored and adjusted periodically.

Yup, either too much or too little air in the shocks.

I agree those little red hose connector need to be pull tight to be secure to hold the air in system. if they are not tauntthey will loose air presure. mine did this after some investigating the cause was eliminated. you might want to invest in a air suspension pump ir a bike pump just don't over inflate.
