Glad you're chiming in Mark... I wonder if it was you I spoke to last year?

The lited "6" on the SG speedo is a nice touch. I wonder if Harley could have put a number up showing all the gears?

I'll stop by your factory one day, if the invite still stands

Huge waste of money! I hardly ever ride in 6 gear, even on the highway. Very seldom do I get up past 70-75 while riding.

I've owned bikes with 3, 4, 5 and 6 speed trans and looked for an extra gear on every one of 'em. If you buy a 6-speed, you'll find you 'need' a seven speed, and when you still look for that extra speed, whatyagonnadooo?! You're normal - at least as normal as anyone else in here, so keep on ridin'! And forget all about a 6-speed!!!!!

I'm not talking about the newer bikes now coming with the 6th gear. Actually changing over to a 6 speed. I didn't have a 6th gear in my Wide Glide and now that I have it frankly if I didn't have it I don't know that I'd miss it. Anyway I told him I'd throw it out there and see what comes back. Thanks in advance>>>
I wouldn't put that money in a 13 year old bike...

Congratulations on commenting on a thread started in 2010.
Besides, a lot of people have spent a lot more on a lot older bikes.
In its own way it's no crazier than spending $30,000+ on a new one.nHell, I've bought homes for not much more than that.

I had a SE 6 Speed installed in my 2001 FXDXT and love it, way smoother than the stock 5 Speed, did I notice a difference in fuel consumption? not really but I like having the extra gear and it does drop the Rs

I never even noticed when that post first went up or I never would have responded. I'd been driving myself crazy for over an hour trying to figure out what the gear ratios were on my old 2006 Dyna Low Rider vs. my 2015 Dyna Low Rider I just bought. I now have a 103 TC vs. the old 88 TC and they ride very differently and my MPG are way up, getting about 45-46 MPG, so I am naturally curious as to possible gear ratio changes. Apparently a lot of people are still commenting on this old post, but thanks for bringing it to my attention... maybe 7 year old posts should be deleted anyway...

old posts are a wealth of information and some people still follow them, when I have to go to the Harley Davidson Dealership they are clueless about my bike (if it isn't new they are not even interested) so the Forum is where I go for ideas and information
