Why not something simple as this:
http://www.homedepot.com/webapp/wcs/...1&marketID=206
or find a comparable one to work with your particular door opener?
That way you can take it with you for what ever vehicle you decide to use from your fleet...

I have one of those too, but I like the idea of not having to stop and dig in my pockets for the key fob.

I like the "Wired versions" one of these days I'll do that,, right now I just put the stand down, walk over, punch the code on my keypad,,and get back on....
Exercise is good for someone my age!

I did the same thing https://www.hdforums.com/forum/5658307-post26.html except I didn't purchase a pigtail of any kind I just tapped into the accessory wires under my fairing and zip tied the control under there. Has been there for a long time and works great!

I think your solution is more elegant from a user interface perspective

No battery in my remote, I jumped across the button leads so that if power is on, remote is activated. I then grounded the negative (that would otherwise be the battery negative) and tapped the positive into the positive coming off of the accessory switch. Very simple, basic soldering and just a few minutes of work with a voltage meter to find the 12v accessory wire under the fairing.
(these little genie remotes all seem to be 12v)

Looked at the cct and this is a very easy mod to do and very clean. My only concern at this stage is leaving 12V on the remote if I am riding at night with brights - any thoughts on that.

Kudos to the OP for going to the trouble of taking photos and detailing what he did in case anyone else wants to do the same thing. I don't understand why some here are knocking his approach - nobody said you had to use it. If everyone that had an idea went to the same trouble as the OP we'd all be better off.
daytona 1117 keep the good ideas coming. Thank you!
