2009 SG Rear Wheel/Tire on 2008 SG

That is almost too tempting!
I have fitted a 2007 swingarm and rear wheel on an older bike, which can be done, but I haven't seen anyone here say that what you ask can be done. From my recent experience the two likely problems are: will the 09 hub fit into the 08 swingarm, also will the wider 09 tyre fit in alongside your 08 drive belt.
The 2009 wheel has the same axle diameter as your 2008, but the 09 hub and swingarm may be wider, so the wheel may not go in your swingarm, may not work with your axle.
If you can bring the two bikes together I suggest you make a few basic measurements to compare the width of the swingarms and hubs, width of 08 and 09 hubs.
The 09 tyre is much wider than the 08 and even if the wheel will fit into your swingarm, I suspect the main problem is likely to be getting the tyre and belt in alongside each other.

The above will give you a bunch of reading about how to install a 180 rear on your '08.
Basically, the '08 swingarm does not stop you from installing a 180 rear tire, it's the rear fender. However, since you are trying to place an '09 wheel on an '08, you need to do some checking to make sure the wheel hubs are the same width from sprocket to rotor, the axle is the same diameter and length, etc... Then you can find a new fender that will clear.
Being that you have $0.00 in the wheel and tire, I would pursue installing since it does look a lot better IMO.
