Default Who washes microfiber towels and who throws them away

Over the years I've kept a box that I put my dirty microfiber towels in. Every once in awhile I will get one real grimy or oily and I pitch it, but most are lightly soiled and are sitting in a box. I've never washed any, I just seem to buy new. Who washes them? Will laundry detergent remove the wax and polish? Do they leave a mess in the washer from the waxes? Do they come clean enough in the washer and work as good as new ones? Thanks

ive tried washing them, imo, they're not the same afte washing, not nearly as soft, and feel more like your normal cotten towel. as much as it pains me, I pitch them after 1 use. I buy them by the lot at sams club so its not really expensive.

I usually rinse them thoroughly in fresh water, and I might get 1 or 2 wash cycles out of them, but then they lose their texture and absorbency so out they go.

I wash mine until they finally reach a point that I just cant get the grease stains out any more and then pitch them. They seem to hold up to repeated washings and work better than any other fiber towels I have tried in the past. I guess its like underwear, use them until they just look like they need to be thrown away LOL!

Washing changes them including fibers breaking and causing lint. That said, I will wash them sometimes and use them for wheels or things not painted. Then I throw them out.

I was told the dryer is what ruins them.
The micro fibers melt and ball up instead
of staying in fiber form.
Kind of sounds logical'

+1 I wash 'em, then run the wash cycle again with no soap to make sure all the soap is out of them. NEVER use fabric softener or dryer sheets on microfiber.

Good info. I've been washing and drying mine for quite a while. Better get some new ones.

I wash them a couple of times and then toss them. I do not put them in the dryer.
