Sturgis - Leather or Textile Jacket & Mesh Pants or Chaps ???
I am riding out to Sturgis from Chicago for the rally leaving August 6th. I am trying to decide what to wear for my jacket and pants. I want the most flexibility. I have both a FXRG leather jacket and a Textile 3 in 1 switchback jacket (it has a solid outer shell that zips off to form a mesh jacket). I also have chaps and tourmaster textile mesh pants. In addition, I was thinking of taking my heated jacket liner.
What to take???
I am leaning to take the 3 in 1 jacket because I can wear it for both hot and cold by interchanging the outer shell.
I am also leaning to take the mesh tourmaster overpants. I can wear shorts under those on hot days and just wear jeans if it gets cold.
Or.. should I take the leather chaps? Is a leather jacket too warm?
Decisions, decisions....
Thanks,
Scott

You can plan on temps from the 60's to the high 90's.
There will be lots of sun and lots of rain...maybe hail!
Are you 'tenting' or staying in a motel/RV?
I would want a GOOD rain suit more than the jackets.
You should know your own needs...pack accordingly.
I'm not sure I want to see any male in 'mesh' pants!!!

Man I was thinking that but wasn't going to say it.... LOL
I wouldn't worry about the heated gear at all. It might get cool but nothing jeans and chaps can't handle. Like the others posted GOOD rain gear would be my first choice.
I know I was joking about the leather deal but lately I have been kinda leaning toward the flexibilty of some of the textile jackets and pants. They keep the space down when it is time to pack and are very versatile.

Good Advice...
I am staying at the Gulch in Deadwood, so I don't have to worry about extreme camping...
Thanks for the leather advice... that's what I was thinking!!! But the flexibility of the textile is nice.
As for rain gear I think I am covered... I have a Harley Overpass pants and jacket, rain gators and waterproof gloves.... I should be good.
Thanks!!
