Cool BIG Touring Motors - 140ci PLUS!

Now that the 124ci engine has become almost common, it seems time to take a look for a proper BIG touring motor. Triumph claim that their 140ci Rocket 3 is the biggest production motorcycle, so I am talking here of 140ci-plus motors.

The obvious candidates are billet motors, but there are at least two more 'normal' candidates worth considering, in Ultima’s 140 and possibly S&S's 145. The S&S was supposedly built in limited numbers as a tribute to Harley’s Centenary and to celebrate their own 45th anniversary, but they are being advertised by several dealers, so may still be available.

I know of only one member of HDF with a truly big motor, but would like to hear from other owners of their experiences and any advice for building such a bike, a Dresser with Attitude!

Give Boss Hoss a call, I think they can set you up with a 502.

If you ever ride one. I think you will change your mind. <G>

nothing like 445 horsepower and 445 lbs of torque.

It is one sweet ride, it wants to go as soon as it is put in gear.

David,

That's a kind thought, but I had just two cylinders in mind! As George Orwell said, two cylinders good, more cylinders bad. Or something like that! (Animal Farm).

I don't have a big motor yet but that is the exact game plan when my 103 gives out and/or I come into some cash the wife doesn't confiscate first!

I like my 09 RK frame, ABS brakes, seat, hard bags, shield, top case, etc, and the motor truly is just fine as it, but man I would get a kick out of zipping right along with some squid on an R1 wondering why he can't pull away (at least too easily) from my big old Harley boat.

Simple things for simple minds, I guess.

Yeah S&S built a 145cu.in. motor but it was not factory on a motocycle unlike Triumph. Second biggest is the Vulcan 2000 from Kawasaki.
