Default Harleys new tour pack teather

On vacation this week in Ormond beach, Fl. from Asheville, NC. Stopped in Destination Daytona today to buy the new tour pack recoiling teather. Parts guy said they just put one on the wall 10 minutes ago behind the parts counter. I bought it installed it. IMO well worth 29.95

I ordered a King Tour Pack for my Streetglide and am waiting for it to arrive. Never owning a Tour Pack before can you explain Why its better?

I saw it in the Catalog but wasnt sure if it was worth it?

And.... I always worry about retractable parts like that breaking...

Exactly what is it? What does it recoil? Sorry for the stupid question... grin.
But I truly don't have a clue...

Part Number 54171-11

Retractable Tour-Pak® Lid Tether

Add the convenience of a Retractable Tether to your Tour-Pak®. When extended to its full length, the strong cord holds the lid open at least 10° past vertical for improved stability and easy packing. Then the device automatically coils the tether cord inside the housing to eliminate pinched cords when closing the lid. The attractive housing with Bar & Shield logo attaches to the existing mounting points and replaces the Original Equipment cord.

Looks like a good idea. I have had my cord caught in between the lid and box a few times and this would elliminate that problem.

This sure seems like a good idea.
Will keep from pinching the tether between the lid and TourPak. With a full 'liner bag', I always have to man handle the tether back inside the lid.
It's now on my list for the next trip to the dealer.

I wonder if the cord is as strong as the stock one...

Has anyone's cord ever break?

If it did, I'm sure the lid would snap off of the hinges and there goes $800+ down the drain.
