Default Speedo not working and turn signals don't shut off

I have a 1996 FLHTCUI and the speedo quit working. At the same time the turn signals quit shutting off automatically. Any help?

Speed sensor not working. Remove it and clean the tip of it in case there are filings or other junk impeding it's function. If that doesn't do the trick then you need a new one.

Default speedo/self cancelling turn signals not working

yes i had the same problem with my 2000rk it is the vss located on the tranny. i also tried to wipe it off but did not work. after one ride of living with it i replaced it and fixed the problem after all when you get used to the self cancelling turn signals it becomes a safety issue and no speedo sucks too! only upside is its not registering any miles

When my speed sensor went out, the speedo quit and the bike died when I came to a stop. The dealer tried to clean it but we eventually replaced it with new one.

I have an '01 Ultra. My speedometer acted crazy.Turn signals would not cancel and the radio volume would flucuate up and down when the speedometer acted crazy. I replaced the sensor and it works perfectly. Not hard to replace.you take the plug off the end of the wire and slide it under the starter and put the plug back on.Duestsche plugs are very simple to take apart.......

So consensus is even tho the turn signals are still working and there is not an idle issue the problem is most likely the sensor?

reread it. turn signals work but dont cancel. idle is [probably] not related.
