5th gear whine on 07 Road King Solutions ?
I understand the 5th gear whine on the 07 RK is normal due to the straight cut gear but what is the solution to fix it ? I have the SE sprocket on the rear wheel which was supposed to reduce the whine, have tried different gear oils ect but still have that annoying whine.
Has anyone changed the gear to a helical cut like what came on the 09 models will that work ? I love the bike but am seriously considering dropping nearly 3 grand to replace the trans with a baker 6 speed.
What have you done ?

Your gear noise may be more (or less) than mine. But I am here to tell you that the '09s also have 1st and 5th gear whine. From your post, it is obvious that this REALLY bothers you. Why? I don't get it? For me, this is one thing that makes HD stand out. It doesn't hurt anything. These bikes are not rice grinders, or Euro tourers. Some things never change. And with Harley, I hope this is one of them. The Baker will make noises also, by the way. And you won't be satisfied. Live and love it, or buy foreign. Personally, I hope the whine is there to stay! This is an American bike.
P.S. It also helps me keep track of what gear I'm in. Maybe I need to shift up
