Truly - $2700 and 7th gear is still 1:1 (same as stock 6) if I'm not mistaken.

I suppose I get the extra giddyup but its very expensive giddyup and a lot of shifting.

Only thing I think that would be good for is keeping rocket-like acceleration on a high-hp/tq machine and be able to drop your final drive ratio with different sprokets. The additional gears could have a purpose but I'm not sure I see it... I am curious as to others thoughts on this, so gonna subscribe and watch.

The 6 speed in your bike has overdrive 89:1 ratio final gear....5th gear is 1:1

The baker 7 speed is 1:1 in final gear

I can't understand why they would make a 7 speed gearset with without a overdrive....why, why, why

All the big HP makers I have talked to said stay with the stock unit.

Um... what... Unless he has the SE or another after market tranny, it's not. The factory HD tranny is 1:1 direct drive, has been for quite some time iirc...

Like I said above, unless your just wanting to stick with a Direct Drive system and increase your sprocket sizes to increase your final drive ratio but still retain those lower gears running close to what the stock HD tranny does then there's really no need. That is my opinion at least...

Final gear ratio on Harley 6 speed and the Baker DD7 is 1:1. Neither has an overdrive.

The stock 6spd cruise drive 07 up has a 6th gear of 1:1, same as the DD7. The main reason for going to the 7spd is to get a lower 1st gear ratio, that's why people are going to 30T front pulleys also. The 07-08 1st gear is 9.31, DD7 makes it 10.49. The 09 up is 9.59 compared to 10.81, it makes for a lot less clutch slipping at takeoff & better acceleration. Compare that to the 5spd that has a 1st gear of 10.78. I certainly don't need 7 gears, but that seems to be the only way to get a better 1st gear ratio & still have the 2.875 final drive, that being said I'd love to have one, but there's other things that will get my 3 grand spent on first. If my 6spd ever has problems, or I find a money tree, that's what I'll replace it with.

I am wrong, I stand corrected, I always assumed the 6speed was a overdrive Tranny, Harley even calls it the 6 speed cruise drive. What kind of marketing crap is that

Looked in my service manual and yes 6th gear is 1:1 my bad

Still 7 gears no overdrive? 2700.00
