The ride from Dubuque Iowa to Red Wing Mn is one of the best rides I've done this year.

If you are riding north from Dubuque you should stop in at Brietbecks in Balltown, They have some good food, cold beer and a long history. It's a nice place.

You couldn't have picked a better weekend. The weather here today was gorgeous with temps into the 80s. There were so many bikes out today that if I didn't know better I would have thought there was an official bike rally going on.

What a great weekend up there. Got to PDC on Friday, and on saturday headed up to Hillsbor,WI. There is a motorcyle lodge up there we checked out, pretty cool. After that we headed over to Lacrose and headed down rt 35. stopped in a couple of bars on the way down. weather was just too nice not to be riding.

Thanks for all the tips, just back from 700 miles of great riding!! Dells to LaCrosse, north in to MN, back down to PDC. got to hit some of the spots mentioned above (got the last burger before Pete's burger stand shut down last night.) What a fantastic weekend of riding, kicking myself I have not taken that trip before. I know where I am spending my weekends next year!! Thanks to everyone that posted up tips and routes!!

We did that ride last year just from the other side starting out. We left So. Il and went to Milwa. Museum first, then up the Great lake into MN. Then traveled along over to the west side of MN and came down the river and crossed back in Wisc. at PDC and down to Des Moines. South from there into Mo. and stayed on the Mo. side till we crossed back at the Grafton fairy. And JohnScrip, you are correct, once you get close to St. Louis, it get nuts and boring along the river till you get down in the Springfield area and then we hit Lamberts and go off and the backroads and get what we are after. 2700 miles, 5 states 6 days.
