06 road glide 95" motor upgrade question...
Hello,
I'm new to the harley family(sence 08) and I have a probably common question. I have recently done the 95"BB kit stage 1 and pc111. I'm about to install S&S 510g cams(kit) along with adjustable SE pushrods. The indy I'm going to is telling me I need not spend the money on a new cam plate, lifters or oil pump. Just confused everywhere I read says I have to do this. Don't want to spend the money(of coarse) but don't want screw up either by being cheap. I have always had street bikes and like to gun it around town as well as on the freeways is there anything else I should be adding to this build plan? Thanks in advance your Ideas will be greatly appreciated.
Well here an update: I have went ahead and purchased the "FUELING" oil pump, cam plate, lifters kit for 700.00 bucks. Figured sence there in there doing the cams anyways why not. I'll let you guys know how everything turns out and post the dyno sheet. Here's a recap. 95" BB, SE flat top pistons, Stage 1, Se heavy breather, D&D fat cat, PC111.(all this is existing) The New: S&S 510G cams kit, SE adj push rods, FUELING brand high flow pump, cam plate and lifters kit. SO all said and done $1900.00 bucks has left my wallet.

I had a 95" installed on my old Road Glide.SE flat tops,Andrews 26G,torrington cam bearings,adj. push rods,new lifters,head work,K&N filter,SERT and dyno.
This was done with 30000 miles on the bike. The builder said the stock pump and spring was still good to use. Also said that going to a high volume pump could leed to oil blow by.
I put on another 25000 miles with no problems.Oil pressure was about 5-7 lbs. at idle and 32 at highway speeds.
I would use new lifters.

If you want the most bang for your buck,I would have the heads worked, but this might also mean that the cams might need to be replaced with some that will compliment the head work.
If you already have your engine built then your going to have to pay for labor again, parts and a dyno tune to get the most out of it.
If your happy with the performance now, save your cash.
The builder put in larger valves with seats, new valve guides and flowed the heads. Not cheap at $800 but quality in house work.
Make sure you select a well a known co.
The engine dynoed at 94/98.Of course the numbers can vary depending on the components used.

Thanks, Indy did mention head work. Have know idea what amount would best complement S&S 510 gear drive cams. Also when I take this step will the cam plate, oil pump and lifters then require an upgrade. Those little suckers aren't cheat even with ebay. Indy wont warranty out side house products. He loves that suggested retail price out of a catalog. He has found out several times that I don't share that same love.
