Default Corbin seat difference FLHX and FLHR

I am looking to buy a new (discounted) or used Corbin seat on the forums or ebay. I am trying to figure out why Corbin has different models listed for the FLHX and FLHR when everyone else (HD, Mustang...) says they are interchangeable. Corbin even has 97-05 and 06-07 for the FLHR. I know one difference is the bag guards. Is there anything else stopping me from putting a Road King seat on my Street Glide?

Thanks

I suggest you call Corbin and ask them. I doubt highly they will snub you.

+1 on asking Corbin directly. As for the different seats for '06-'07 model years, it probably has to do with the introduction of wiring troughs on those models that weren't present on the older models which may effect the seat pan shape.

Good luck with your research.

A Corbin Road King Seat will not fit any of the glides (Road Glide, Street Glide, Ultra Glide).

The differance is the console, Corbin seats come over the back edge of the tank and wrap over the console. The glide consoles (Gas fill in the console) come back at a taper. The Road King console come back stright and square.

All the Glides will interchange (Within the correct year model) but the Road King is it's own animal.

A Glide will have FL in the seat part number. A Road King will RK in the part number.

Also, the passenger pillion (Back Seat) are all the same all will have FL in the part number.

it's going to depend on the year -- 06/07 RKC will fit an FL you will need the console extension peice (except for FLHX) 05 and earlier seats will not fit 06/07's -- 06/07 FLHX seats will fit if you remove the saddlebag guards--as everyone else said CALL CORBIN to make sure before spending your $$$$ --

I posted this up because Corbin was no help

This is the BS response I got to my question.

I asked if a Road King seat would fit If I wanted to add rear crash bars, and why there was a difference between 97-05 and 06-97.

"Hi,
thanks for asking, Harley put a different tank starting in 06, so the nose of the older seat won't match up.
Please let me know if you have any more questions."
