I am lucky my 2011 RGU is incredibly quiet. I have never been around any harley that has so little mechanical noise. I hav e 3500 miles and it is uncanny I think maybe it was built by BMW or something. I changed oil today and went with synthetic V-twin 20-50 so maybe that will noisy things up a bit. This is the 4th oil change and have been using Valvoline 20-50 dino. not a speck of anything in the filter or on the drain plug magnet.

There's definitely something wrong with your bike. Take it back to the dealer tomorrow.

Default Noise

I experienced somewhat the same sound from my 2011 SG. I immediately took it to the dealer and they determined it to be the lifters. Once replaced, the noise was gone.

If it's going out, you should hear a loud clank (not clunk like stock) during starts. And you can really feel it during hard launches. Feels like the belt is slipping on the sprocket. If you feel that, get it checked immediatly because you can tear up the starter clutch, which will double the cost of the fix. I have the t-shrt.

Humm I have that same issue on my 96" thinking it might be the cam chain....didnt think neutral rattle was an issue with newer bikes? Only does it when starting out before it gets completely warm and after a cool down from a break. It would set my mind at ease if it is a neutral rattle. I put a richer map in it awhile back and it quitted my valve train noise to the point that it sounds like my brand new FXDC, a wrench told me its because of the richer map....?
