All I can say is you get what you pay for with cheap tools....We tried a cheap one and it worked OK but not perfect....Ended up buying one for $250 and works a lot better.

Depends on how often you are going to use...Cheap enough for a try....

The one on the left was purchased at Fry's Electronics for ~$8 (also at Radio Shack IIRC) and does an acceptable job though some crimps require some modest dressing.

The one on the right is from Sargent Tool (~$25 on Amazon) and, because of its articulated action, does a nice job--crimps require zero dressing.

I've probably done 200+ crimps on my bike and those of my buddies' installing a variety of Deutsch, AMP, Delphi, etc. quick disconnect plugs/receptacles and have not had a wire failure. The $200+ tools are nice, but these less expensive tools get the job done for this hobbyist.

What is the part or model # of the sargent tool you bought on amazon? I need to crimp amp pins for my handlebar control switchs (82-95 )

The one he has pictured is
THIS ONE THIS ONE
another one in a little larger wire size is
THIS ONE. THIS ONE.

The actual number for the one he pictured was BCT-1 as he mentioned in the first reply in this thread, but the 1026 tool I linked is the exact same as the BCT-1.
