My 103 ran hot during break in but after 15,000 miles and good tune job it is not near as hot as it was when new.

I went from a shovelhead to a twin cam 96; it worried me to death at first because I always thought it was too hot.

A set of rinehart true duals and a stage one map and SE air cleaner did the trick on my 103.Mine runs cooler than my 07 King ever did!

Power commander and some power duals helped a great deal with the heat problem I had.

Default frustrated with 103 engine/ heat also

I bought a 2010 103 ultra limited electra glide new. I live in the NE where it does not get that hot. Still, in summer if caught in traffic for 10 min, big problems. Taking off the bike/engine shudders and shakes very noticabley, sputters and coughs, and strugglles to take off again. This will continue for a few minuets until enough air has passed over to cool it down. Behaves like a 69 Ford LTD on unleaded gas. Turning the rear cylinder of/on makes no diffrence (an option on my bike).
Shared my concerns with HD dealers who in turn tried several things working directly with HD. This included twice remaping the electronic efi control, working with synthetic oil, and playing with the switch. Now they consider the issue close with the explination " the bike is running in the designed peramiters" - nothing / no more help.
As far as I am concerned this engine is destine to cook itself, score the cylinders, and fail. HD missed the boat on this one. Just one mans opinion. I'm selling while it still runs and going back to BMW. Good luck!

Of course it's hot, it's a 100yr old air cooled V-Twin, just ride & enjoy it.

LOL...yeah, let me know at what mileage the rear end on your BMW pukes and drops oil all over the rear tire...that is; if you survive the ride!

My 103 in my RKC runs warm for sure, but my 02 Hayabusa would overheat in traffic stock (they all do it) and roast your leg worse than my Harley ever has. I think some people forget you're riding with an engine between your legs, engines get hot, and it's air cooled....
