Default Best performing exhaust

Just picked up 2011 103 street glide, I want the experts opinion on which exhaust system will put out the most horse power. I had D&D 2into1 on the 2008. I want good sound but not blowing my eardrums out. I am ditching the cat for sure. I have a heavy breather air intake and will be getting HD race tuner

JackPot 2-1-2 and pick whatever muffler you want. I chose the new 4" Rineharts, not loud at all but a nice low rumble. Monster ovals and rounds sound good too. If I was to do it over I might choose the carbon/billet mufflers for FuelMoto....very cool and sound nice on the video link. Different look too.

Just my opinion. No expert here!

A two-into-one like the V&H Big Radius or others flow best.

I've been doing research on this very thing myself. I've had more Dealer service guy's and several tuner's recommend the V&H Pro pipe for performance without breaking the bank. I know some don't like the one pipe look. I could care less myself. One less side to clean.

Your definition of best performing might be different than another guys. Some want the most power, peak torque and hp, others focus more on early torque production.

There's a widespread belief that a 2-1 system will outperform a true dual system. It's not that simple. Generally a 2-1 system will outperform TDs in the lower end of the operating range, and the TDs will have higher peak numbers.

Here's a chart showing two identical bikes, exactly the same except for the exhaust. The one with the fatcat 2-1 has an earlier torque curve, the one with the Rinehart TDs has higher overall numbers. Running around town, the fatcat bike will feel a little snappier, but in a race, the one with the TDs would likely pull away.

Here's another chart comparing the fatcat with the Rinehart TDs. Similar looking curves. Again, up to about 3K rpms, the fatcat comes on earlier, but the Rineharts post higher numbers. Some guys want the early torque curve and don't care about overall numbers, others want the most power they can get.
