Default Chrome Fork Install

First time HD owner, first project. Bought bike from coastal state and front forks are pitted from saltwater.
Bike also needs brakes.

Project
Front forks and bells, new front stainless dics and new brakes, fork oil, new seals and all the oils. Go from the thunderhead exhaust and put back on the stock pipes with one step up performance mufflers other than stock.

Just got a HD mechanics manual and am somewhat mechanically inclined.

Was going to try and tackle this job myself. Any and all suggestions and mechanics tips would be appreciated.

I read I will have to get it tuned somewhere after I change the one pipe back to 2. Live in the Cincinnati area.

Thanks

One part I was alittle worried about is taking off the front tire. Can I get it out of straight?
If I just take the parts off and put them back on do I need to align it in any way to make it run straight.

Thanks for the links above

It will be straight. Pretty much self aligning. Just torque everything correctly when you put it back together. Shop manuals are an essential learning tool. Pretty much everything you need to know is in one.

Simply follow your Service Manual. You will not have a problem. You will need a tool that you seat the seals with. I took a piece of 2" PVC, worked fine. I've done a couple of these and, trust me, you will not have a problem.

What are the torque specs to the rotor bolts and lower fork pinch bolts?
