Default SE tuners: pro vs street

Can someone advise me on the main differences between the SE Street Performance Tuner, and the SE Pro Super Tuner? Both are in the 2011 SE catalog. The price diff is $130, and the pro is non street legal. What would justify such a price difference?

I have a stock 10 SG, that I plan on doing stage 1 mods only. I am pretty computer/tech capable, and would like to do the re-map myself. If I buy the cable set, which tuner is the better option?

The street tuner allows your dealer to flash a download with their key. The pro tuner allows access to the tables in your ecm. If you want to play the street tuner is out. Research the TTS tuner.

The performance tuner only allows the dealer to load street legal EPA MAPS on the bike. You (the user) or a tuner has NO ability to make adjustments to the MAP at all. There is NO tuning possible with it. The dealer will charge you for the MAP they install, and if you make chanes and need another MAP down the road, they'll charge you again. The Pro Tuner will allow you or a tuner to make corrections, adjustments to the MAP. You will start with a base MAP for your bike, a base MAP is a MAP that is close to the build you have (air cleaner, pipes, cams, etc.) After you get the base MAP you can tune from there. If you make further performance upgrades down the road, you can edit the MAP or install a new one and go from there. IMO the performance tuner is junk.

Not to hijack the thread, but I currently have a base map for slip-ons and stage 1 air cleaner. I have the SE Pro Super Tuner. When I install different cams, will the dealer have to install a different base map for me or will I be able to hook up the cables and let Smart Tune do the work?

If you have the cables and software, you might as well start wth a new MAP that is closer to the specs for your cams. New cams will want some ignition timing changes and Smarttune won't correct timing, just air fuel.

Thanks for the response 'tuner. I have a set of SE-255 cams that I'm going to install. Could I install the cams and then ride the bike 80 miles to my dealer for a new map or is the bike gonna be running way out of whack after the cam swap?

Another hijack, but does anyone have part numbers for the two? I can only seem to find a number for the street legal performance tuner. My dealer is quoting me a much higher cost than the list price for the tuner unit, I'm guessing there is another part number I'm missing?

sanlyn, you'll have to look in the screamin eagle catalog. i'm not sure if the big parts and accessories catalog lists the screamin eagle pro super tuner.
