Hi.

I'm a new owner of a 2009 Road King Police .

The front brakes are stucked, fluid is not passing trough the ABS-unit.
Can somebody give an advice ?

I'll start with to look for the fuse and make ABS voltagefree.
But then ?

Dealer is not the first option - he is abt 5 hours from my home.

Is it possible the hole in the caliper, that allows fluid to return to the reservoir, is plugged up?

 

Front brake:
With brakelines open at calipers and pressing handle - no fluid.
With brakeline open at ABS-outlet and pressing handle - no fluid.
With brakeline open at ABS-inlet and pressing handle - fluid is coming out.

Rear brake:
With brakelines open at calipers and pressing pedal - fluid is coming out.

 

Try to squeeze the front brake lever before powering up the bike note if you get any movement in the lever and or the brake calipers keep the bike from rolling, next try powering on the bike and see if the lever or calipers fail to move or get harder to move. If the lever/caliper don't move or are stiff with power on then i would suspect a bad ABS unit and thats going to run 700. + . I just had the same thing happen over the winter, at first it seemed to come and go and finally locked up.

 

Happened to me last summer. ABS unit had to be replaced.

 

It sure sounds like a failed abs hcu. Are there any codes in it?

1 - Turn the ignition switch to off & run/stop switch is to run .
2 - Push odometer reset button in & HOLD .
3 - Turn the ignition switch on and then release odometer reset button . The background lighting should illuminate & the speedometer needle should sweep it's full range & indicator lamps ( battery , security , low fuel , check engine and cruise ) should illuminate . The word "DIAG" should then appear .
4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPtb" with the first P flashing .
5 - Each letter represents a area of the diagnostics module . The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check . To move from one letter to the next you must push the odometer reset button one time . ( from P to S to SP to t to b and back to P , ect ect )
P = ECM
S = TSM/TSSM/HFSM
SP = speedometer
t = tachometer
b = ABS codes
6 - To get the DTC code in a area of diagnostics you should PUSH & HOLD the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and the release . If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word " none " will appear if there are no DTC's . Push the odometer reset button again to view any additional codes if they exist .
7 - Record the codes .
8 - If DTC's are NOT to be cleared , press and release the odometer reset button . Part #of module will be displayed .
9 - If DTC's are to be cleared for that module , PRESS & HOLD the odometer reset button until " clear " is displayed .
10 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module .
11 - Turn the ignition switch off to exit the diagnostic mode

 

Sounds like a bad ABS pump. Failure at the ABS pump will almost never throw a code, but it will disable the brakes, lol.

 

No codes for the ABS.
Took the ABS-unit off the bike.
It has two mainparts.
- Electronics incl. 4 pcs valve coils.
- Hydraulic valve block with 4 valves and a small tank (?).
Tested with air and fluid and compared fwd and rear brakefluids way trough the valve block.
It's clear that the passage trough fwd brake way is blocked.
Ordered new valveblock at dealer, 674 €, time of delivery ?
I will mount the new valveblock, fill with new DOT 4 fluid, remove the air and take the bike to dealer for final check.
