If your gas has ethanol, then you won't need cleaners. Non-e gas might if it isn't top tier.

Most of the injector cleaners use ethanol or methanol. I should point out that eth is safe, but meth can eat even newer seals over time. Best to avoid it.

Default Gas additives

I've been using Seafoam BECAUSE of the ethanol..Had previous fuel-injected Goldwing (08)- the Goldwing forum members all swore by seafoam to clean out the crap that ethanol leaves in your engines. My experience shows it DOES help with running, starting, mileage-- I swear by it. Use an ounce per gallon every third tankfull..A little insurance goes a long way.

Dont use any but I might sometime. If it aint broke dont fix it. I was told that it can screw up your O2 sensors on late model bikes but if I did decide to use something, I'd probably use Berrymans, Marvel Mystery Oil or Seafoam.

I stabilize my gas for winter layup but I do use a fuel additive / cleaner during the riding months. I recognize that it is not really needed but I think it does do some good.

What I do relating to fuel is that I try to use a good quality pure gasoline whenever I can avoiding ethanol. There are a few stations close-by that carry it and I try to plan my ride around topping off at them whenever I can.

Even if you live in a state that mandates the use of corn in the gas most states do have the real thing. In my states it is limited to boats, collector cars and motorcycles, etc.

Mostly just the marinas carry the non-ethanol around here. The couple stations that did carry it both went belly-up. Now the govt talking about E15 instead of E10.. Pay more- get 10% less gas mileage- gum up your engines- love it..

Yes- that's a good site..Went to one nearby Sunoco-closed-- the other nearby is a marina, and couldn't find it..
Next time I'm over that way I'll try again. In the meantime- I guess Seafoam..

Fuel injector cleaners are not additives. None contain ethanol. There are only two types. Methanol or petroleum distillates. Most brands have both types for sale. Seafoam and StaBil are petroleum distillates.

They do the job of cleaning carbs and injectors without any harm to the motor. Dealers do injector cleaning with stronger stuff that they introduce into the fuel rail.

Techron works. Its just that simple. Chevron makes it, go buy it. And no, I don't get a free t-shirt by anyone for recommending it. This stuff just works. I'd recommend using it every 5,000 - 7,500 miles.
