What is the best rattle can to use? Should I go ahead and fork out the $20 for the Harley Texture Black or is there a better alternative?

I assume this texture black is like bedliner and lays on easy as long as your surface is clean and taped off good?
this was the post I was thinkin about...look through it, the 1st couple pages show his work on the motor and what he did....hope this helps!

I used the H-D rattle can silver paint to color-match the oil cooler adapter (it was black) to the engine in my '08 EG Standard. It was a dead perfect match for color and texture. It also held up very nicely to oil stains and subsequent scrubbing!

Hours of taping...hours. 2 of us. The paint lays on perfect. It's more flat than I thought it would be. I guess some shine spray will help that. You have to paint the thing with a flashlight to see up in the grooves/fins. That was fun.

I didn't do the bottomside nor the oil pan. I will however take it off the lift in the morning to see how much I can get at underneath.

I think so. I'll know more in the morning when the sun is in the garage. The underneath front has me thinking I need to find a way to get in there. Hard to say with everything off. I'd hate to get hasty and see a light spot later on....that'll drive me nuts.

That and they only had 1 can of the newer stuff at Harley. I certainly used it all.

Oh and I need new spark plugs.

Full tank...go figure. She's 2 inches lowered already. The lift has to be persuaded to get under there with it straight up and down.

I'll see how froggy I feel in the morning.

Looks awesome... I am awaiting a photo of the finished product. Looks like you took your time and did a good job. I am thinking even a small miss could be hit with a qick sqirt and not hurt anything.
