Default 103CI Limited to 120R upgrade

I am about to pull the 103 out of my 2011 Ultra Limited and install the 120R. What are your thoughts? Also, if anyone needs a 103 with only 4000mi please let me know.

IMO, I'd keep the 103, it's the best engine HD has. I'm not sure if it was on this site or the others, but a guy has one in his FLTRX & really likes it. There just putting them out there to be tested by the public.

Your money your ride only you know why your doing it.
The 120R is branded not for street use. This could be a problem sooner than you think. Don't let insurance company find out.
Depending on how and where you ride it may be to much engine.
120R is a great product in the right place.

The 120R is an EXPENSIVE upgrade, but I would imagine a vast jump in performance. I just don't have that kind of money to throw around... so I would just try to upgrade my 103 to a 110, and spend the rest of my cash on other upgrades on the bike. Shotgun shock, wheels, etc... I have heard guys spending close to $10k on that motor setup... OUCH! Best of luck, and let us know what you decide!

I'd also keep the 103. You might want to swap it back into the bike when it's time to trade up, and keep the 120 for your next application.

I sold my stock 0 mile 96 (actually my dealer gave me a credit for it and they sold it on ebay). I wanted to reduce my total cost vs keeping the 96 for when I sell the bike. When that time comes, I'll take the motor out of the new bike, slap it in the old bike and have the 120 freshend up.

As far as someone said about the 120 being an EXPENSIVE up grade, horsepower aint cheap. Its all a matter of how fa$$$$t do you want to go. For the money, the 120 is the best $$$ per horsepower available. I had mine installed and tuned for less than way less than 5k cash and my stock 96.

Once you do anything to your motor that requires a custom tune (not a download), your bike is no longer street legal so the worries about not being "street legal" are worthless. Harley has to give it that designation if it does not meet epa standards.

Keep the 103 unless you REALLY need to recoup money from it. Good luck with the 120 beast. If I had the money for a 2nd HD, I'd slap a 120R in her too. But I still say the 103 is the best all-around bagger engine, especially with a Stage 2 upgrade.

I would just keep the 103 its a good reliable motor. Thats a lot of money to spend on a race motor. The bottom line is your still riding a 900 plus pound touring bike.

What would be more fun 75hp or 130 in that 900lb bagger?
