Default Compensator problems.

Thought I would pass on this info. I have a 2010 RG CUSTOM. Harley replaced the stock comp at 57000 miles with their SE compensator upgrade. I just replaced that piece of crap at 79000 with a baker compensator and a baker tensioner. The SE compensator looked fine but sounded really bad under a load.Got a chain noise, but that should go away. New sprocket with 80000 mile chain.

I got the gmr compensaver, Hayden tensioner. se comp, and all the parts associated will be shipped from boardtracker On the 21st. I will end up buying the sprocket nut socket from heartland (via Amazon) and I'm hoping I can autozone tool rental to remove the main trans bearing race off the final gear and install the new trans bearing with their tools too.

just put about 10,000 miles on vulcan works solid sprocket and stock chain adjuster. works fine. shifts fine, no clunk at start up. stock comp shot at 25k, screaming eagle shot at 65K, have 10k on the vulcan and I am happy. wish I would have bypassed the SE unit at 25K. would have saved myself some time and money.......... the comp is my only "bad" experience with my 08 road king. manageable, just would have rather not had to screw with it. love the bike, shooting for 100K by 2018!

Default vulcan works purchase

www.vulcanworks.net is the manufacterer. I think I paid about $180 bucks. I did use the stock tensioner with good results. make sure you reinstall the tensioner not too tight or it will whine. I think I purchased the comp from thier website - good luck and happy motoring!

And after you completed the work, you test rode the bike and what were the results?

Smoother shifting? quieter shifting? ???

Great write-up, just want some reasons to move forward with doing the same project.

Great write-up, I completed this upgrade about a month ago on my 2009 streetglide with the screaming eagle upgrade kit and at the moment I am very pleased. I really enjoy the smooth start ups without the loud bang and the engine seems to be smoother. So far so good

if anyone needs adhesive for when they do theirs I have like 3/4 of the tube left. anyone is welcome to it, just pass it on to someone else after you use it(there's at least enough to do 2 more in the tube)just say the word and I'll ship it out to you. I don't want any money, this place has helped me out way too much to ask for anything from anybody................
