Default Installing SE compensator kit part 2

This is a follow up on the thread I started this A.M. I had a chance to ride the bike today to see how it felt. It was a cold but sunny 35 degrees so it wasn't a long ride but long enough to see the difference. The clutch seems more responsive and connected to the rear wheel...no more sloppy drive train feel. When taking off from a complete stop I can give it just a little gas when letting out the clutch without getting the shutter. Obviously you don't want to lug it but I was just testing to see if the shutter was gone and it was. On a "normal" take off it feels like it should feel in my opinion... solid without any noise coming out of the primary. I'm posting some pics of the old comp parts, you can see they're in nice shape after 25,400 miles. I didn't get one of the chain tensioner but it showed no wear to speak of. I have been using HD formula + since new. Also, someone wanted to see what I used to grind the inner case with so there's a couple pics of the tool and bit I used. I'm very glad I did the upgrade, the bike feels solid now. Thanks for looking. Larry

The freakin shutter drives me crazy. When I get the shutter on take off, it almost feels Im losing power. Can you explain to me what is actually causing the shutter.

The compensator is suppose to absorb the torque load or pulses coming from the crank thru the cam slider and springs in the comp unit. The stock set up is so weak that it bottoms out so you start to feel the pulses that should be absorbed. With the SE spring set, it can easily handle the torque load so you don't get the shutter. Someone can chime in with a better explanation but that's it in a nut shell. The shutter drove me crazy as well!! See the pic below.... SE springs on the left vs. the stock spring/rotor ***. on the right (2 little springs in the can on top of the rotor).

Have a question: Does the Screaming Eagle bikes have this SE compensator already installed?

Default compensator

Do you happen to know the part number of the SE compensator, and is it one size fits all for all touring bikes?

Thanks,

Dave
